    Your videos are absolutely amazing. I learned so much about sapphires watching your channel. Using few lab equipments I can really understand how much should I quote the seller and how much should I quote to foreign buyers. Thank you very much for sharing this great content. Recently bought a lot of blue sapphire time to see which one are heated and which one are natural. I hope there is more than 1 natural once in the lot.

    sir i have a ruby in a silver frame ring but while scratching it with a stone it had scratches .so can a ruby have scratches from a pebble

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems 18 днів тому

      If it is a ruby and not 'composite ruby' glass or plastic, it is very difficult to scratch a ruby without another ruby, sapphire or diamond scratching with it. Of course if you hit hard enough in wrong angle it is possible, but again very rare and hard as rubies, sapphires (corundum family) are quite hard - in Mohs scale 9. Fantastic video showing so many colorful gemstones! Question : What should I pay most emphasis on when I go to buy a gemstone? Is it fair to say that just relying on a gemstone certificate is not enough?

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems Місяць тому

      Great question. When buying any gemstone one should always check the six criteria's (as shown below) before determining if the price is fair or not. a) Carat weight b) Color c) Clarity d) Cut e) Origin f) Treatments Gemstone certificate helps narrow down some of these criteria though it is not enough as you do have to judge the color & clarity yourself as the labs are not 100% accurate. Also the reputation of gem labs matters. Best Regards, Tarun Gupta, GIA GG

    thanks alot for the information. I am a gems trader from Myanmar and looking to expend my market direclty to Bangkok and scheduled to come a inspection trip in the end of this month. As per your video selling in my country is much better price i can get than Bangkok?

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems Місяць тому

      In Bangkok you will definitely have more 'serious' buyers compare to Myanmar, but because there is a lot suppliers as well they will negotiate to lower price as well, as they do have 'more options.' In the end it really depends on what type of gemstone and quality do you have. The more 'rare' and 'nice' the stone the better price you can fetch for it as they is always someone interested in buying it. Best Regards, Tarun Gupta, GIA GG

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems Місяць тому

      Like any detective work we have to look at multiple clues to see if the stone has been subject to treatment or not. Blue cloud can be 'normal' color zoning or can be chemically diffused as well. If you see other clear unheated elements then most probably it is. informative and interesting ! Subscribed and liked! I have a specific question for you...Last year, i acquired a really nice untreated 3 ct mozambique ruby via my trusted traveling gemologist. The ruby was certified by GRS and another more "local" lab called "GRL" (gem research laboratory) in Bangrak, Bangkok. Have you ever heard of that particular lab? Reason i ask is that they gave it a better color rating (Vivid Red (Pigeons"s blood)) and naturally i wonder if they are a valid and respected laboratory? Do you have an opinion? Thanks for any reply even if you have no opinion to offer...

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems 2 місяці тому

      Personally, I haven't heard of GRL. I actually wrote a blog post about different labs for gemstones which you can check out here: www.buygemstone.info/what-lab-or-certification-is-the-best-for-checking-your-expensive-ruby-sapphire-or-emerald/ In terms of color grading from the various labs (even the reputable one), I personally don't trust any of them as color is very subjective and generally 'vivid red' pigeon blood ruby is very specific color which 99% of all rubies don't fit this specific range. Best Regards, Tarun Gupta, GIA GG

    i do not believe in astrology connected to stones too much but, lets say i did. can you please explain , as scientifically as you can , why it is a problem with beryllium treated stones if your only stated reason is that it USED to not be yellow ? i mean,, if your only scientific reason are color, being in a previous state of purple or green or whatever, and it now is yellow,, and that if you can prove its the same yellow color as untreated yellow sapphire, , ,, what exactly is your reason ?

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems 2 місяці тому

      Agree what you have stated. If you don't believe in 'astrological' properties then beryllium treated yellow sapphire is perfectly fine. In fact the color is stable and you don't have to worry about it fading, etc., However, you do have to take into account that these stones are not 'rare' and therefore you should not pay as much as a 'natural' yellow sapphire. In fact they are substantially cheaper. Scientifically, natural yellow sapphires get their color from trace element "Iron" and not "Beryllium." I have no issues with beryllium treated sapphires. The only issue I have is the sellers who selling these as a 'natural' yellow sapphire and asking them in similar price range even though they don't fit this category. Also the reason why I stated astrological reasoning in this video because a lot consumers in India do buy yellow sapphires for 'astrological' purposes and don't know what beryllium treated sapphires are and they do buy for this particular purpose. They believe yellow sapphire represents 'Jupiter' in their charts and believe buying these stones will make their luck or destiny change. Personally I don't believe in this either but again I am not judging anyone and just trying to educate people what the difference in treatments, and natural stones are. Thanks for your comments and thoughts. Best Regards, Tarun Gupta, GIA GG

    • @QuadDerrick
      @QuadDerrick 2 місяці тому

      @@ThaiNativeGems In the video (5:26) you say that due to the fact that it used to have another color , that is an issue for astrology purposes. it sorta do very much sounded like, it was the color that was the issue. you sound and act like a gentleman, i am sorry for attacking you Mr. Gupta. i have this detective living inside me, he have a need to explore and detect everything , even when its not a good outcome , he just MUST ask ALL the questions. sometimes we reach out and destroy things in our quest for exploring we are sorry. "They believe yellow sapphire represents 'Jupiter' in their charts and believe buying these stones will make their luck or destiny change. " im thinking, if astrology people want to use yellow beryllium treated sapphires for luck, or or destiny, you should have a scientific reason behind it when you say they can not. or else it become questionable and i want to ask if you are selling gems for a living.... it is like keeping someone away from true love cause you want a dollar no ? Thanks for good reply. - Per
